Imagine one day, yes a FULL day, with no distractions, commitments, deadlines or todos. A day to relax and focus on yourself. Sounds nice, huh?
So maybe a full day isn’t realistic (or maybe it is), but there are health benefits related to taking time to recharge and care for yourself.
“We are a society about efficiency and with that comes stress,” says Jillian Weissman, MD, Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. “To avoid stress, which can cause serious health problems, find a way to decompress. This can be anything you enjoy — yoga, meditation, walking or reading.”
You may be a mom who’s constantly catering to your children, a retiree but full time volunteer, a full-time student, the person who does everything (for everyone), a workaholic or a master at juggling it all. Whatever you can relate to, you need to dedicate time out of every day to YOU.
